Cosmic Bodies Exhibition: 4/14/2018

​

Thank you to everyone who came to my show, and thank you to the Norwegian Seamen's church for welcoming me and my art. The following is the lovely introduction one of the pastor Hanne Marie Frostlid presented me with. I am truly honored by her words:

 

"It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to this opening of the exhibition 'Cosmic bodies'.

As a Christian I believe that we were created to create. To express our humanity and to survive! And images are a human expression.

An image appeals to our eyes. We understand and we react faster with our eyes than our ears. In an instant an image does something to us. By looking at an image we can stop and reflect on every detail, and you can always go back to specific details. An image gives us the freedom to explore, and it invites us to an interpretation process. With the artist we interpret the image and make it our own.

An image doesn`t necessarily gives us any answer. But images create a space where our lives can be interpreted as well.

Karli Mogen has created art in the tension between the cosmic and the very concrete. As humans we are part of a larger context. None of us stands alone. So when I look at Mogen`s art I see hope. And as a Christian and pastor I also see God`s magnificent creation in Mogen`s art: The space. The human body. Life.

Thank you Karli for having your exhibition at the Norwegian Seamen`s Church."
