Overview

Combining anatomy, flowers and cosmic imagery, a figure unzips her cosmic skin to reveal the anatomy underneath. Anxiety has been a big factor throughout my life, and one recurring aspect I've experienced has been with social anxiety. The underlying discomfort and pressure to be liked or "interact successfully" can result in feeling like you are just wearing a costume that you think will make others comfortable. "Under the Skin" is about letting that social persona fall away and revealing the raw and vulnerable self underneath.

With vibrant colors on a tan toned mixed media paper, this piece brings a mix of eclectic and witchy vibes to any space. Measuring 9 x 12 inches on paper, it would work great in any frame starting at an 11 x 14 inch size. You can lean into a minimalist theme with a simple black frame, or take it more into an eclectic or dark academia direction with an ornate wooden frame.
